In the theme of community and photography, on September 19 at 7PM we will be holding a panel discussion between artists and community members alike on the importance photography can hold in underserved communities. Photography Without Borders will be joining us along with some of the artists from In These Strange & Uncertain Times, including Homies Helping Homies co-founder, Kevin Bass. Would you like to be part of keeping Wissahickon Valley Park beautiful and sustainable? Then join long-time steward of the Wissahickon and the FOW Volunteer of the Year (2019), David Bower, on a variety of stewardship projects at Thomas Mansion! At this very special part of The Wissahickon Valley, we’ll be sustaining recent FOW plantings of native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers, and we’ll be caring for some of the beautiful and historic gardens that have been cared for by generations of other volunteers. We’ll also remove invasive vegetation and windfall tree limbs, and we’ll occasionally do some maintenance on nearby trails.
Stop by our Education Tasting Station in Lucille’s Garden to sample the seasonal bounty from our edible garden! No registration is necessary, and it’s free with admission. Just stop by any time during the hours of 10 am to 1 pm. See you there! NO REGISTRATION NECESSARY

For 12 years she owned the critically acclaimed Geechee Girl Rice Cafe. Geechee Girl featured the food of the Low Country of South Carolina and Georgia where her grandparents were born. She now manages a food access program for a small local foundation. Join the PMC for a free and public mushroom hunt!Meet in the parking lot of Ridley creek picnic area #9 at 1pm. After a brief introduction we will break apart to look for mushrooms.
