Join Andi, Debbie, and Jim as they lead a different type of hike in September. Besides exploring the changes in flora and fauna as we anticipate autumn, we will hike to the Henry Houston Statue, through what was once the Houston Ramble. This hike will be done in memory of Gerry Schweiger who led a similar “Trails less Travelled” hike to the statue in the past. We will also visit Rittenhouse Town and Thomas Mansion and along our course we will be met by David Bower who will explain the history of these parts of the Wissahickon as only he can.
Be prepared for some uneven and rocky surfaces on our 3 mile hike. Children 12 years of age are welcome when accompanied by an adult, but no dogs except for service dogs, please.
Distance: 3 miles
Level: Difficult (many inclines and declines, uneven surfaces)
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. We ask all event attendees to bring a mask and mask up if a distance of six feet cannot be maintained during the activity. Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain.
