Volunteering with Natural Lands is a great way to learn more about the natural world, give your time to a great cause, and connect with like-minded people. Then join us for a variety of stewardship projects on Tuesday mornings! We will learn about their characteristics, migration patterns, and role in supporting a healthy ecosystem. Participants will then be invited to make a paper collage capturing the color, pattern, and movement of local birds. We will meet at the entrance to the park off Levick Street. There is limited parking on-site and along the surrounding roads so please share a ride if you can. Please dress according to the expected weather. Hybrid Valley Talk: Postcards from the Wissahickon with David Bower

The period between about 1898 and World War 1 is known as the Golden Age of Postcards, with U.S. Postal Service estimates of a billion postcards mailed and collected. Join long-time steward of the Wissahickon and our 2019 Volunteer of the Year, David Bower, as he shares highlights from the more than 3,000 Wissahickon postcards filling 18 albums that he’s collected from that time over the past three decades. A natural storyteller, David will connect his postcards’ views of the Valley Green Inn, Historic Rittenhousetown, bridges, and even some things that no longer exist, to the past, present, and future
