On the way we will see other iconic landmarks such as Kelpius Cave, 100 Steps, and Lovers Leap. Along the paved bike path, we will observe large gneiss exposures and various tree species. Trailblazing women have played a vital role in the Wissahickon Valley for many centuries. Join FOW Trail Ambassador and Philly’s 2020 Women’s History Month honoree, Kris Soffa, to celebrate the legendary Wild Women of the Wilderness, a Revolutionary spy, and environmental advocates whose efforts have resulted in this wilderness park, the crown jewel of the Philly Parks System. We will be meeting on the eve of the equinox, exactly 12 hours before the official arrival. We’ll hike the Houston Meadow trail, observing the changes happening in the park as we transition from winter to spring. We will also have interesting facts and lore around the Spring Equinox.
