Discover the Wissahickon: Cresheim Crawl

Join Trail Ambassadors Kathy Fennelly, Bailey Graf, Laura Bryan, and Jin Xu for a longer hike along the Cresheim Creek tributary, which stretches out northeast from the park and divides Chestnut Hill from Mt. Airy. We’ll explore the northern trails stewarded by Friends of the Cresheim Trail and check out some of the infrastructure they’ve put in place for the community, such as an outdoor classroom and multiple bike boardwalks. We’ll also pass by the ruins of Buttercup Cottage.

Parking and Transit: If you’re driving, there are several parking options near the Inn. The northern parking lot can be accessed by Wises Mill Road from the Roxborough side of the park, and the southern by Valley Green Road from the Chestnut Hill side. Overflow parking is in the Upper Lot on Valley Green Road. If taking public transit, you can take the 27 bus to Henry Ave & Wigard Ave and hike about 20 minutes down to our meeting location. Bathrooms: The outdoor restrooms at Valley Green Inn should be available for use.
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain, extreme heat, muddy conditions, or icy conditions. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org.

Discover the Wissahickon is a guided hikes series made up of 14 routes spanning almost every section of the park’s 50+ miles of trails. On these hikes, our knowledgeable Trail Ambassadors will lead participants on an exploratory journey through the Wissahickon.
