Our Friday volunteer series rotates between Pennypack on the Delaware and Lardner’s Point Park, giving you the chance to support the park nearest you—or discover a new favorite spot. A Storytelling Circle and Seed Swap Join us for an interactive, hands-on, seed storytelling circle followed by a seed swap. We will begin by shelling seed pods and hearing from four expert seed keepers from our region about the seeds they steward for their families, communities and diasporas. Participants will also have a chance to share about the seeds they hold dear. We will close with a facilitated seed swap between participants. Join curators Bill Ewald and David Brigham for a gallery talk conversation that revisits the American Revolution through the exhibition Paths to Independence. Moving beyond a simple Patriot versus Loyalist framework, they explore how revolutionary ideals intersected with the practical realities of war—provisioning, militias, governance, and daily decision‑making. This discussion opens the story wider, asking how curators can reintroduce historical complexity and include many voices in telling the nation’s founding moment. Discover how ideas, operations, and lived experience shaped the Revolution we continue to interpret today.

Serafin Ensemble performs on Thursday, 9/10 at the historic Hill-Physick House in Old City, Philadelphia. Oboe and bassoon are highlighted in this one-hour program. Listeners will hear a duo by Beethoven for the two winds. Then, each wind instrument combines with strings for a delightful blend, perfectly-crafted in Mozart’s Oboe Quartet and in a Bassoon Quartet by François Devienne (one of Mozart’s contemporaries). Hear bassoon, oboe, and string playing at its finest, and enjoy a reception with the performers, The concert will be played at 5pm, and repeated at 7:30pm, with the reception between the two performances.
