Join us for a celebratory tree planting!In 2017 the Arboretum underwent a tree risk assessment that resulted in us having to remove approximately 500 trees from campus. We set a goal that within ten years we would plant two trees for each tree removed meaning that we would add an additional 1,000 trees to campus by 2027. We are happy to report that we have met that goal early and will be planting our 1,000th tree on Friday, June 16, 2023! Help PDE bag oyster shells so that they can used in restoration projects and support clean waters!PDE has been collecting oyster shell from Wilmington area restaurants since early 2016. Generally, spent oyster shells go to landfills, but with our recycling program, shells are going back to the bay! Oyster shells are important for baby oysters and the entire aquatic ecosystem. Juvenile oysters need hard structures to attach to...which in turn leads to more oysters! We need to put our recycled oyster shells into bags so that they are easier to transport and easier to use on restoration projects.Who: Anyone age 12
