Beyond Wakanda

Guests of all ages can explore stories of iconic Black superheroes and create their own comics and superheroes during the day’s workshops and hear from artists and authors who will speak on highlighted themes in comics and sci-fi. Cindy Ross has hiked the Appalachian Trail and, with her husband Todd Gladfelter, also explored the Pacific Crest and Continental Divide Trails. They included their young children on hikes of the Continental Divide Trail with the help of llamas and immersed them in nature while camping. Experience the glowing wonders of our forest through a multi-sensory nighttime event. Director of Environmental Art and certified yoga teacher Kristina Murray will offer a grounding meditation in opening the senses. Artist and stargazer Ana Vizcarra Rankin will then lead the group on a naked-eye stargazing hike, inspired by her practice of studying star maps and telescope imaging.
