American Swedish Historical Museum

The American Swedish Historical Museums is hosting an evening with a museum tour and glögg tasting. You will get a gallery tour, learn about Scandinavian holiday traditions and enjoy glögg and Swedish pepparkakor. We are offering two tour time slots at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The glögg reception will be at 5:00 pm, after or before your tour. You can on our website register for your preferred tour time.

Join the American Swedish Historical Museums Toddler Time as we learn about arctic animals. We will read “In Arctic Waters” by Laura Crawford to discover the animals that swim in the Nordic seas. $0 per museum member child and $5 per non-member child, an adult chaperone is free. Pay at the door or pre-register online.

You should join the American Swedish Historical Museum virtual talk “Sisterhood of the Varjo Dress: Women who wore Marimekko and what it meant to them” by Alexandra Lange and learn beyond the aesthetic elements of Marimekko. In this talk, Lange will offer a history of the artists, writers, and designers who chose Marimekko as their uniform from the 1960s onwards, describing how the dress designs aligned with their cultural politics and expanding opportunities for women. The talk will be held over Zoom and is $10 for ASHM, FASDV, and Fabric Workshop Museum members and $15 for nonmembers.

Join ASHM for an intimate musical evening with Sofia Talvik. Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik still conforms to American interpretations of her original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music. Food and bar will be available for purchase at 6 pm, and the performance is from 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the Museum's Terrace Tent. Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers, pre-registration is appreciated, but tickets will be available at the door.
