Another book on the climate crisis is set to hit stands this fall, but this one, published by the radical press Verso, will be much different than the typical nonfiction already lining shelves. The book, I’m With the Bears (title is a nod to John Muir), is a collection of fictional short stories, featuring writers like Margaret Atwood, David Mitchell and Bill McKibben, who wrote the introduction. The book, set to be released October 1, is meant to bring a new creative perspective to climate change issues. Guardian

A Las Vegas shrimp cocktail typically isn’t considered to be the most sustainable. Most shrimp are flown in frozen from places like Texas where they are grown at the expense of the environment. But 30 miles north of Sin City is Blue Oasis Pure Shrimp, who is promising locally grown shrimp using sustainable aquaculture technology. GOOD
Scary Waters
Despite a resurgence of recreational use of the Hudson River, the water quality has not improved. A study by environmental group Riverkeeper found at least one and a half days of the week the Hudson is not suitable for water recreation activities. The high levels of bacteria are attributed to rundown sewage facilities and poorly maintained septic systems. New York Times
Ray Anderson
The sustainability community said goodbye to “green giant” Ray Anderson this week, who passed away from cancer on Monday. Anderson was a titan in the sustainability world, believing that businesses could become truly sustainable. His carpet company, Interface, was on “Mission Zero”—zero waste, impact and footprint by 2020. Grist
