French Fried Fuel
DC Biofuels, a Washington D.C. based company that focuses on producing clean and green biofuels for public transportation fleets is taking the french fry to a whole new level. The company has teamed up with Neighborhood Restaurant Group to use fryer oil from DC restaurants for fuel. DC Biofuels is proposing a 20:80 ratio for biofuel:diesel mixture in order to abide by current vehicle guidelines. ECOPRENEURIST

Before last December, gas prices in Tehran, Iran hovered at $0.38 per gallon, making much of Iran a private passenger car country. However, as of December 2010, prices have risen to $1.50 per gallon, causing the city to seek alternative transportation options. Over the past two years, Tehran has put in bike lanes and bus stations, and is expanding the subway systems as well. GOOD

Glassphemy!
A NY based group called Macro-sea has launched a project called Glassphemy, which invites interested individuals to gather and smash glass beer bottles to relieve tension and promote recycling. The group believes that many NYC residents and businesses are not recycling glass bottles properly. Once the vessels are smashed, shards will be reused for creative art projects.
