Luxembourg’s Rock-A-Field music festival sets an impressive president for how to reduce the environmental impact of events that attract the masses. Soft drinks were served in reusable bottles, food in biodegradable containers, and the festival ticket served as a voucher for using public transit to get to the fest. All in all, RAF lowered its unrecycled and unreused waste by 75 percent since its first fest in ‘06. Rock on. Tree Hugger
UpCycle With Ease
A new clothing donation program, re-fashioNYC, will help New Yorkers clear out their cluttered closets. Buildings with 10 or more units can request a donation bin online and when it’s full, the city will pick up the clothing and donate it to Housing Works, an organization that provides services to individuals living with AIDS and HIV. GOOD
New Normals
According to 1981-2010 normals (the 30 year report on climate conditions) released by the National Climatic Data Center temperatures across the US have increased by an average of 0.5 degrees Farenheit. The official report will be released tomorrow. Science Daily
Fly Efficiently
Brighter Planet, a company that “empowers organizations to make sustainability actionable in systems used by their customers, employees, and suppliers” recently released a research study on Air Travel Carbon and Energy Efficiency.
