  • Early Spring Wildflower Walk, Bells Mill

    Starting at Bells Mill Road, we will explore the Yellow Trail and Forbidden Drive for early spring wildflowers.Meet at Bells Mill Road and Forbidden Drive. We will walk uphill to see some beautiful, planted Trilliums and then continue on the Yellow Trail looking for other spring ephemeral wildflower, such as Spring Beauty, Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Jacob's Ladder, and May Apple. Many of these beautiful wildflowers have a short growing season before the large trees obscure the light reaching the forest floor. Free!

  • Noon Bird Walks at the Wissahickon Environmental Center.

    Enjoy a guided bird walk in the Andorra Natural Area of the park during lunchtime ! All levels of birders welcome. Enjoy a guided bird walk in the Andorra section of the Park during lunchtime. It is spring migration season, and various species will be arriving throughout the next few months. Walks vary in length from 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs. Wooded trails, Andorra Meadow, Harper's Meadow and Forbidden Drive are the areas we explore.

    For this family-oriented program, take a walk in search of salamanders, frogs, and toads. Talk about clean water and Earth Day.Take a walk towards the Creek to search for salamanders and frogs. Identify and look at their unique features. Discuss clean water and its importance to the health of amphibians and how Earth Day helped protect it.
