Sometimes the world’s environmental woes can be rather overwhelming for an individual human being. Good thing The National PB&J Campaign assures us that making a difference isn’t too difficult.
This Friday, April 2, is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. The message behind the nation-wide project is to demonstrate just how much energy one can save by eating a single plant-based meal. How much energy do you save with a PB&J (or other meatless, dairyless, choice)? According to the campaign’s website, with one meal switch, 2.5 pounds of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, 133 gallons of water and 24 square feet of land is spared.
On April 2, Director of the PB&J campaign Bernard Brown will be celebrating at one of Philadelphia’s own Whole Foods Market locations (Callowhill). Stop by for what GRID assumes will be delicious festivities. Visit the campaign website for more information, the campaign blog for recipe ideas and this place to learn how to make your own spokes-sandwich.
