The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia’s Annual Red Kettle Kick-Off Festival

Join The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia for its annual Red Kettle Kick-Off Festival on Saturday, Nov. 19, which will launch another crucial holiday season of fundraising to benefit thousands of Philadelphians in need. The Salvation Army’s classic large Red Kettle will be set up at Love Park during the festival, where passersby can put in a donation. Martin Luther King Day of Service 2023

This year, Bartram’s Garden staff will be partaking in a neighborhood cleanup in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, in support of our friends at AFAHO! We greatly appreciate the hard work and commitment of all of our neighbors who have volunteered with our Horticulture team and the Sankofa Community Farm in past years. We look forward to having you join us for volunteer sessions at the Garden again this spring. We are very excited to serve the Southwest community on January 16th by taking care of our streets and public spaces.

Now + Then Marketplace Lucky Ducky Market

Now + Then Marketplace returns to The Block at Sono St. Patty's Day weekend with over 80 local vendors inside and out. The vacant storefront next to Target & Yards on 5th Street will once again be activated by N+T Marketplace a year later, inantely proving their initiative to occupy empty storefronts in the 'Meantime'. The market will feature vendors ranging from Bean2bean coffee and candles from Queer Candle Co to vintage clothes and original artwork.The market is free to attend, dog, and kid friendly. Bartram’s Garden needs volunteers to help gather material for its famous dried botanical holiday wreaths! Volunteers will learn plant identification and get hands-on experience with successful harvesting and preservation techniques while helping us prepare to offer sustainably harvested dried botanical wreaths at our Handmade Holidays fundraiser event in December. Learn about sustainable wreath-making and get creative incorporating colors, textures, shapes, and fragrances in designs. No previous experience is needed! Tools and equipment will be provided. Please note that we will be outdoors in the garden as well as the meadow, so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate

Bells Mill Clean-up

Meeting at Forbidden Drive & Bells Mill Road This Saturday, we’re setting our sights on Bells Mill Road and it’s parallel tributary. Bells Mill is the only road that runs through the park and crosses Forbidden Drive. Due to the high volume of traffic on this road, it’s often littered with trash. Come help us make a difference in this highly used section of the park. We have a full road closure planned for this event. No experience is needed.
