    Help us to improve the health and biodiversity of our forest while getting to know our vast, 365 acres of protected land! This is a great opportunity for those who are looking to learn more about plant identification and restoration techniques while connecting with nature and other members of your community. Together, we will work to remove invasive plant species and improve our trails. Workday Details No experience necessary to volunteer. Training will be provided by our expert staff during the workday. We recommend wearing long pants, sturdy boots or shoes. We will have a selection of gloves if needed

  • Mausoleum Hill Community Cleanup

    Mount Moriah Cemetery (Yeadon Side) 1004 Cobbs Creek Parkway, Yeadon, PA, United States

    The Friends of Mount Moriah Cemetery invites neighbors and history lovers to join a cleanup day at Mausoleum Hill on the Yeadon side of the cemetery. Volunteers will work to restore Mausoleum Hill, home to some of the cemetery’s most notable structures and the final resting places of people whose lives are woven into the fabric of Philadelphia history. Please bring personal hand tools, gloves, and safety gear. We have a limited supply to lend, so the more you can bring, the better. Gas-powered weed whackers are especially helpful.   • 57th Annual Wissahickon Creek Clean Up

    Wissahickon Watershed

    Our inaugural Creek Clean Up was held in 1970 to coincide with the very first Earth Day! Join us in celebrating both events by helping clean the Wissahickon Creek, its tributaries, and local trails on Saturday, April 25th. This is the perfect volunteer event to get outside and show your support for a cleaner watershed. All volunteers choose a pre-assigned section of the Wissahickon Creek, its tributaries, or a section of trail. Maps (including parking, cleaning boundaries, and trash drop sites) can be found on the registration page. Please note that this is a self-guided volunteer outing and you will join other volunteers

    Stewardship Saturdays are open events that welcomes all visitors to take part in a hands on experience of creating better habitats for wildlife on the Refuge. Folks will meet at the Visitor's Center where they will meet and then work with experienced "Weed Warriors" who will teach them about removing invasive plants and or planting native plants to improve native plant diversity and/or food sources for wildlife.

    Plant trees at the Schuylkill Center! We’re looking for volunteers to help us restore and improve the landscape in the forest at the Schuylkill Center. In 2026 we worked on the Port Royal Gully project, a large engineering and landscape project that helped with flooding and water pollution, protecting the important first order springs at the Center. This project is nearly complete, but to cross the final finish line, we need to plant hundreds of trees to help the natural landscape and create a thriving home for wildlife.     Join us for the 16th annual Indigenous People’s Day celebration to help all participants and visitors feel safe and comfortable during the event and to ensure our shared care for the landscape after the festival. Multiple shifts available: 10:30am–1:30pm: Focused on helping all visitors feel safe and comfortable. 1:30–4:30pm: Focused on helping all visitors feel safe and comfortable. 4:30–7:30pm: With staff, focused on clean-up and breakdown after the festival concludes. Visit the Schuylkill Center for a DIY day of fall festival prep including building s’mores kits, carving jack-o-lanterns, creating crafts, decorating, and more!
