     Get your hands in the soil with us at Nice Roots Farm!Our 2026 Community Farming Days at Share Food Program’s urban farm are just around the corner! In partnership with Philadelphia Orchard Project, our Community Farming Days are your chance to help grow organic produce for our community while learning about urban agriculture and food justice.     Embark on a rewarding journey as a Volunteer Native Planter, where you’ll connect with like-minded individuals, refine your gardening expertise, and delve into the world of native plants. By tending to the Courtyard Garden and Front Entrance Garden at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, you’ll enhance beauty and biodiversity of this important landscape. Tools are provided, but feel free to bring your own. Remember your water bottle, to wear sturdy shoes, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty! Volunteer Native Planters meet every Thursday, April 9 to October 29, from 10am-12pm. Registration recommended to stay connected with weather updates.

    Help us to improve the health and biodiversity of our forest while getting to know our vast, 365 acres of protected land! This is a great opportunity for those who are looking to learn more about plant identification and restoration techniques while connecting with nature and other members of your community. Together, we will work to remove invasive plant species and improve our trails. Workday Details No experience necessary to volunteer. Training will be provided by our expert staff during the workday. We recommend wearing long pants, sturdy boots or shoes. We will have a selection of gloves if needed

  • The Big Fall Cleanup at FDR Park

    Join us for our first-ever celebration of National Clean-Up Day. We’ll tackle trash clean-up projects as a team, in preparation for our fall events and the fall planting season. We will provide all tools and work gloves, just bring your camaraderie and love for the park. Every Saturday, volunteers help fight back against litter in FDR Park. This year, for National Clean-Up Day, we're going to team up to tackle stubborn spots in the park as a group! Everyone is welcome, with a range of different tasks available.
