TrailOff & Trail Walk-in Event featuring Indigenous Storytelling and a Walking Experience Along the Delaware River

August 26, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

TrailOff puts YOU at the center of the story through a free app that syncs audio to your phone’s GPS as you walk along the K&T Trail in Northeast Philadelphia. The story “Conversations” imagines discussions with the Indigenous Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape people of past, present, and future.

Bring a charged smartphone and headphones!
We’ll provide bug spray, snacks, water, and a unique walking experience.

4 – 4:30 PM
Arrive and listen and walk at your own pace!
“Conversations” leads you from the Frankford Boat Launch to Lardner’s Point Park and back. 2.1 mile trip, about 50 minutes.

When you get back, relax in the shade at the Reading & Resources Tent
Check out books and zines for all ages that are relevant to the Tacony and Wissinoming neighborhoods, the history of the Trail and the Delaware River, and Indigenous people.

5:30PM Informal Author Chat with Jacob Camacho and Trinity Norwood
Discuss the content of the story and how it was created with the co-authors. Born and raised in Guåhan, Islan Marianas, Jacob is a CHamoru writer, educator, and activist and much of the story is influenced by his encounter with indigenous folks in America. Trinity is a writer, advocate for indigenous peoples and citizen of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation of New Jersey.
