CELEBRATE SOLSTICE: Sunrise Hike & Yoga

Join us on the stunning vista of the Belmont Plateau for a special solstice themed guided hike and yoga class that integrates sun salutations and other poses to welcome the longest day of the the year. Yoga class will be led by our friends at Tula Yoga.

The summer solstice on June 21 signifies the longest, lightest day of the year and the start of our favorite season in Fairmount Park…. SUMMER! Dating all the way back to ancient times, the solstice marks the mystical, spiritually-heightened day when the sun reaches its highest point in the sky. Celebrated by many cultures and religions at festivals and ceremonies around the world, it honors a deep sense of devotion to nature, Mother Earth, and the energizing power of the sun. Yogis celebrate the empowering effects of this supercharged day and so can YOU!

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

• The 1/2 mile hike is on varied terrain so please wear trail friendly footwear.
• The yoga class takes place outdoors on flat grass.
• This special class is 90 mins, which includes a 30 minute hike and 60 minute yoga practice (you’re welcome to come for only one portion).
• Bring your own yoga mat.
• Dress for weather conditions.
• Bring water and a snack.
• Bring bug spray and sunscreen.
• There are no nearby bathrooms so please plan accordingly.
• Appropriate for adults & mature adolescents (minors must be ticketed and accompanied by a guardian).

PARKING: There is plenty of free parking in the park. As always, NEVER leave valuables in your car!
