Learn the basics of tree ID and what's unique in the Andorra Natural AreaLearn the basics of tree ID. What's a compound leaf, a broad-leafed tree, and a conifer? What are some of the common trees in Wissahickon Park? Visit several champion trees that are in the Andorra Natural Area. We'll also talk about tree diseases that are challenging our forest.

Join us at Glen Foerd for open boating! We’ll have canoes, rowboats, and kayaks for guests to explore parts of the Poquessing Creek and Delaware River. This activity is open to all ages, though be prepared for summer temperatures and moderate physical exertion. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Getting in and out of your boat can be a wet and muddy experience. Please wear appropriate clothing and consider bringing something to change into after the activity. This one-day workshop introduces the fundamentals of color temperature and its role in creating depth, light, and mood in a painting. Through demonstrations and hands-on exercises, participants will explore the relationships between warm and cool colors and how temperature shifts can be used to model form, suggest atmosphere, and unify a composition. Working from simple references, students will practice mixing and applying color with intention. This workshop is suitable for all levels and emphasizes both observation and experimentation.
