Explore your relationship to environmental justice and learn concrete ways to include Lenape and other Indigenous people in your work!In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to meet Native members of the Climate Justice Initiative and dive deeper into the Indigenous mural imagery. Then we will explore our own relationship to environmental justice and ways to include Lenape and other Indigenous people in our work. Participants will leave with direct connections to local Lenape tribes and Native organizations to deepen their own justice work. Dr. Aisha Mershani’s work documents nearly 20 years of the Israeli Apartheid Wall, Israeli violence, and Palestinian resistance. This exhibit is a gateway to bearing witness to what the news ignores – the people directly affected by the Wall. This multimedia experience includes photography of and audio storytelling by numerous Palestinian people living behind the Wall. This exhibit aims to educate the wider public, all while using the gallery space to build a broader solidarity community. Weekly events will be organized by the La La Lil Jidar Collective to engage audiences towards the realities on the ground through artistic expression.

This mural, designed by Nile Livingston, will stand alone as the Gayborhood’s first mural, honoring this rich practice of Ballroom that has recently become mainstream. The mural is the first in Philadelphia to celebrate black queer culture in a neighborhood steeped with that history which is fast impacted by gentrification. The mural will be dedicated on November
