Reusables for Grocers

November 9, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn innovative ways to cut costs, reduce waste, and promote sustainability from industry leaders!

Reusable containers effectively reduce costs and increase sustainability for businesses selling prepared or bulk food. After working to ensure that reusable container use is fully allowed in the Philadelphia health code for food establishments, Circular Philadelphia is now advocating for more reusable container use in food businesses throughout Philadelphia.

Join Circular Philadelphia and our partners Tiffin Indian Cuisine, The Rounds and Re:Dish for a seminar to hear from these businesses that have already switched to reusables.

Agenda:

10 am-10:15 am: Registration and networking

10:15 am-10:30 am: Opening Remarks from Nic Esposito of Circular Philadelphia and Munish Narula of Tiffin Indian Cuisine on the benefits for businesses switching to reusables.

10:30 am-10:45 am: A business example from The Rounds on the best practices for delivering food and home goods to their clients using reduced and/or reusable packaging.

10:45 am-11:00 am: A product and service overview from Re:Dish on how they provide reusable container systems to New York City and Philadelphia institutions.

11:00 am- 11:30 am: Group discussion with area grocers from large corporate chains to independently and community-owned grocers on the feasibility, challenges, and questions for launching a reusable container system with your staff and customers.

Our intention is for participants to walk away with a better understanding of:

  • The market opportunities for switching to reusables.
  • The best practices for offering reusables to customers.
  • Real-world examples of systems that make reusable container programs work.
  • Opportunity to voice your feedback and needs to these experts to get your grocery store started on the journey to reusables.
