Hellerick’s Adventure Farm Fall Festival kicks off September 12 and will feature a 5-acre corn maze, hundreds of pumpkins and gourds, and over 50 unique attractions, plus its signature attractions, the Barn Yard mini golf course, aerial adventure, goat yoga and goat adventure, and silo climbing wall. Guests can also partake in u-pick flowers and crops; availability based on the season, as well as enjoy five-acres of sunflower fields boasting 25 different varieties blooming, occurring until first frost. Fresh baked goods and cider will be available on select weekends in September and every weekend in October.

Initiate your own exploration of the great outdoors at one of our preserves, open from dawn to dusk. Some preserves are only open six days a week (one day reserved for rest; please check the website before you visit). Once you upload your photo discovery to iNaturalist, it will automatically appear in our “project,” which allows Natural Lands staff, volunteers, and scientists to see what species are present at our preserved open spaces. Sixty years ago, in Gainesville, Florida, a new drink called Gatorade was created. The idea for Gatorade was sparked by an unlikely conversation between a University of Florida nephrologist named James Robert Cade and an assistant coach for the Florida Gators, Dewayne Douglas. Dehydrated and occasionally hospitalized, players were losing their games. According to Cade’s research, they were also losing an average of 18 pounds of water and critical amounts of sodium and chloride per 3½ hour game.
