  • Seed Cleaning Volunteer Day

    Join Us for Seed Cleaning at Bartram’s Garden! Help our gardeners prepare for next spring by cleaning last season’s seed harvest. You’ll learn traditional techniques like hand-threshing and winnowing to separate seeds from chaff, making them ready for storage and sowing. Volunteers will also pack seeds into envelopes for sale in the Welcome Center. Seed cleaning is a relaxing, family-friendly activity—usually done seated at a table, chatting with neighbors. Registered volunteers will meet at the Coach House promptly at 9:30 AM. Come for the whole day or just an hour or two. Staff will provide instructions, safety protocols, tools and dust

  • Restoration Workday

    The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education 8480 Hagys Mill Rd, Philadelphia, PA, United States

    Help us to improve the health and biodiversity of our forest while getting to know our vast, 365 acres of protected land! This is a great opportunity for those who are looking to learn more about plant identification and restoration techniques while connecting with nature and other members of your community. Together, we will work to remove invasive plant species and improve our trails. Workday Details No experience necessary to volunteer. Training will be provided by our expert staff during the workday. We recommend wearing long pants, sturdy boots or shoes. We will have a selection of gloves if needed

  • MLK Day of Service

    The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education 8480 Hagys Mill Rd, Philadelphia, PA, United States

    Come together to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy at the Schuylkill Center during this day of service on Monday, January 19th from 11am-1:30pm. All members of the community are invited to join us as we work on service projects aimed at protecting the health of our forest and supporting nature at the Schuylkill Center. There will be a wide range of service projects available so everyone can participate! Registration is required for this popular volunteer opportunity. Light refreshments will be provided.
