We are excited to announce the return of local artist/photographer, and shop community favorite, CJ Harker on September 16th, 17th, and 18th in celebration of the Fall Equinox. CJ will be setting up his pop-up studio in Moon + Arrow for three days of capturing and making beautiful portraits through the Wet Plate Collodion process. This historical process is like watching magic; leaving you with a tangible, beautiful photographic heirloom printed on tin. The Bucks County Book Festival announces their annual Writers Workshop on September 24th, from 9am-12pm. This year’s event is led by two published authors who are also literary agents. The topics are perfecting your pitch and query skills, and, understanding the pros and cons of the many publishing options available today. It includes an hour-long, “May I Pick Your Brain?” question and answer period where all questions about the writing journey will be welcomed. Ursula Sternberg: Daydream is a celebration of the career of Philadelphia area artist, the late Ursula Sternberg. Sternberg’s life and career spanned many mediums and multiple continents taking her from Nazi occupied Germany to Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. From the 1970s to her death in 2000, Sternberg was actively involved in the Philadelphia art scene, fostering maker spaces that brought together the local community of artists for an opportunity to socialize, inspire, and be inspired. The Clay Studio presents Figuring Space, a new exhibition comprised of full-scale, figurative sculptures by 12 leading ceramic artists based in the United States. Each of the artists explores their individual cultural identity and what it means to be human through their figurative sculptures. The powerful figures will serve as a body of evidence to lay bare the issues that permeate American art and social culture. Figuring Space is co-curated by Jennifer Zwilling, Curator and Director of Artistic Programs at The Clay Studio, and Dr. Kelli Morgan, Professor of the Practice and Director of Cultural Studies at Tufts University.
Philly Goat Project's "Tree Cycling" is a farm festival and a fundraiser for our non profit. Walking the Edge is a communal display on the experience of walking in nature. We are inviting the public to share their creative impressions, reflections and encounters on walking borders, limits and perimeters in nature as they are expressed through art. Curated by Jacques-Jean Tiziou of “Walk Around Philadelphia”, our fourth bi-annual community exhibition embraces walking as an artistic practice that reflects on our interconnectedness with nature.

Join Cindy Ross for an evening of stories about raising kids in nature, living simply, and love of the outdoors. Cindy Ross has hiked the Appalachian Trail and, with her husband Todd Gladfelter, also explored the Pacific Crest and Continental Divide Trails. They included their young children on hikes of the Continental Divide Trail with the help of llamas and immersed them in nature while camping. Cindy has made her life’s work guiding people in nature, and a decade ago formed a nonprofit—River House PA—which connects Veterans to the outdoors to aid in healing trauma. Cindy Ross is the author

Director of Environmental Art and certified yoga teacher Kristina Murray will offer a grounding meditation in opening the senses. Artist and stargazer Ana Vizcarra Rankin will then lead the group on a naked-eye stargazing hike, inspired by her practice of studying star maps and telescope imaging. Educator and amateur mycologist Matt Schink will aid us along the way in spotting and understanding the beauty of bioluminescent fungi.

Join us for a presentation in Tyler’s Barn Loft, followed by a twilight walk to find fireflies! Fireflies light up our yards on warm summer nights, but their glow is starting to dim as populations decline. Join native planting designer Michelle Detwiler to learn about these uniquely bioluminescent creatures and their challenges. Learn how to create healthy habitat to make your space as inviting as possible for these charismatic insects.
