  • School Day-Off Camp | Primary Election Day

    Kids don’t have school on certain national and religious holidays, so what better way for them to spend a day off than enjoying time at camp? On four separate holidays this spring, Awbury Arboretum will be hosting a day of camp from 8:30am-3:30pm, with a full day’s activities: games, hiking, lunch over a campfire (hot dog lunch provided, or you can send your own), s’mores, scavenger hunts, crafts, and time spent exploring nature. Camp will take place rain or shine, so come dressed for the weather. School Day-Off Camps will be staffed by experienced counselors and teens from Awbury Adventures

    Welsh Road Library will host Minas for a small music program. Minas introduces students to the country of Brazil through its music, Samba and Bossa Nova. After performing examples of Brazilian music and presenting historic, geographical and educational references, they introduce Brazil’s famous festival Carnaval, demonstrating authentic Brazilian percussion instruments - surdo, tamborim, repinique, agogô, reco-reco, ganzá, pandeiro, and cuíca.
