    Bartram’s Garden Community Boathouse 5400 Lindbergh Blvd., Philadelphia, PA, United States

    Wednesdays and Thursdays are for fishing! All ages are welcome, no experience is necessary. Free rods, tackle, bait, and basic instruction for catch-and-release fishing on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. Catch and release only. No fishing license or pre-registration is required. Program runs weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays from May 6—August 27 and may be canceled in the event of inclement weather or unsafe river conditions.

  • WeWalk PHL Thursday Walking Group

    Come out for a walk in the park! Join neighbors for a free, easy 1-hour walk on the Bartram’s Mile Trail with a group. Come every week or just when you can! This program welcomes people of all ages and abilities looking to meet their neighbors and improve their physical and mental health. All walks will be led by a trained WeWalk group leader and will meet at the Welcome Center. Thursday walks in the Garden will be held weekly at 5pm between May 7 and June 25.   • Kids’ Learn-to-Ride Biking (Ages 4–16) JOIN WAITLIST

    This FREE two-hour Learn-to-Ride class teaches young participants how to ride a bicycle.  This class is perfect for those who have never ridden a bike or who may need a refresher. Staff and volunteers will teach participants how to: Balance Pedaling techniques Starting and stopping Steering and shifting gears You can bring your own bike and helmet or rent a bike and helmet for free at the class.  This class is for children ages 4-16. For individuals older than this age range, check out our Adults’ Learn-to-Ride classes for ages 16+!

Equipment, life jackets, and basic instruction for kayaking and row boating provided–first-come, first-served. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. May be canceled in the event of inclement weather or unsafe river conditions. This program will be offered weekly, with the exception of some closures, from 10am—2pm from May through September.     For many people, energy bills keep rising, while the cost of living keeps getting harder to manage. At the same time, too many neighborhoods have been left out of the benefits of clean energy while experiencing shouldering the impact of exploitative utilities. The Human Rights Coalition is hosting a free, educational town hall to learn how community-owned solar can help lower energy bills and move our communities closer to energy independence.   • Jazz on the Green at Fisher Park

    Kick off the summer with four amazing live bands! Jazz on the Green will bring live music to the Olney section of Philadelphia on Saturday, June 6. This multi-generational showcase will present four distinguished groups of musicians including the venerable Professor Randy J. Gibson & the Double Portion Ensemble, Composer & Pianist Sumi Tonooka, Roy Suarez Quintet and a performer to be announced. The event will be held from 3 pm - 7 pm. In case of inclement weather forecast, the event will be moved indoors at Gibson School of Music at 5425 North 5th Street.
