    The Historical Society of Frankford is pleased to host Kimberly Washington, Esq., Executive Director of the Frankford Community Development Corporation (FCDC), as its speaker on Tuesday, March 10 at the Society's Library/Museum at 1507 Orthodox St, Philadelphia, PA . Ms. Washington will discuss the history, impact and future of FCDC as it leads the preservation and re-development of this historic neighborhood. The event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Doors open at 7:00 PM and the lecture begins at 7:30 PM.     Skill Swap Club is a neighbor-to-neighbor exchange that reconnects people by sharing what we know This idea emerged from a Design Gym workshop during Philly Tech Week, where strangers from different backgrounds came together to solve everyday human problems. Facilitated by Chitsanzo Isaac, our group identified skill swapping as a response to isolation and lack of accessible support systems. 🎟 Cost: A snack to share or contribute to the snacks fund (as a sliding scale ticket)

  • Climate Resilience Plan Virtual Community Workshop

    How is extreme weather affecting your daily life? What does your neighborhood need to be better prepared? Bartram’s Garden and ACANA are proud to host a community workshop in collaboration with the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Sustainability. Together, we’ve helped design a workshop that is specific to our neighborhood, grounded in local experiences, and centered on community voices. This workshop will provide direct input to Philadelphia’s Citywide Climate Resilience Plan, which is focused on developing strategies at different scales —citywide and neighborhood-level solutions—to prepare for extreme heat, flooding, storms, power outages, and other climate impacts.   Why does this
