Places like Colombia, Panama, and Mexico are where birds like Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Prothonotary Warblers, and Rose-breasted Grosbeak spend the winter, while Dark-eyed Juncos or Northern Flickers may go no further south than your backyard. This is the perfect activity to enjoy before breaking your Yom Kippur fast, or a great opportunity to enjoy nature on a Monday afternoon. Meet Billy at the cemetery gates, and bring your own binoculars if you have them. A limited supply from The Woodlands will be available for those who need them.

    The 2nd annual Philly Birding Weekend will be hosted Oct. 13 - 15, 2023! We are bringing back some favorite field trips from last year, such as The Woodlands and John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. We are also adding new field trips, including excursions to the Navy Yard and Belmont Plateau. We hope that you'll consider joining us for another fun weekend of birding in Philadelphia.   • Wild Plant Culture (Online)

    Native edible and medicinal plant species can be integrated into gardens and ecological restoration projects to create habitats that support (and include) humans as part of local ecosystems. We’ll consider stewarding edible and medicinal plant species in native habitats such as riparian corridors and glades and discuss how a habitat-based approach translates to yards, parks, and farms.
