On view at the Center for Art & Social Engagement in Westby Hall from October 4 through December 21, Gaia Theory, an exhibition of Emily Erb’s collage and silk paintings. Erb embeds within the boundaries of a larger-than-life human form, navigational charts such as road, topography, and war campaign maps to represent the different facets of the human physiological system. Road maps become the nervous system, topographical maps become the circulatory system, and war maps become the lymphatic system. Each work in the series stands at 9.5 feet high by 4.5 feet wide which are within the same dimensions as

Weekend Warm-up Hike: Autumn Meadows

TGIF! Start your day off right with a brisk, one-hour hike through Tyler’s gardens and out onto the trails. Each week we’ll explore a different part of the Arboretum and be back in time for a picnic breakfast or whatever else your Friday has in store. The Weekend Warm-up Hike is an introduction to Tyler’s hiking trails and a moderate cardio workout. Routes will cover a mix of asphalt, gravel and natural surfaces. After Hours at The Woodlands

Explore The Woodlands after dark on Friday, October 7th. BYO chairs or blankets, picnics, and beverages warm up by a fire pit and wander the historic Hamilton Core of The Woodlands by moonlight. This After Hours will feature a spooky outdoor concert by the Philadelphia Viola Quartet at 6:30pm. After Hours events are free for members. (Members will receive an email with a registration code in September.) $10 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is required.
