Join us as we tackle one of the largest illegal dumpsites in Philadelphia!! We’re teaming up with the City of Philadelphia, Office of Clean and Green, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Philadelphia Water Department, United by Blue, and multiple agencies, to remove illegally dumped tires and clear debris from Tacony Creek Park and the surrounding streets.
This cleanup is a great way to make a real impact! Volunteers comfortable lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) are especially needed to help remove tires. Prefer lighter work? No problem—there will also be opportunities to collect smaller litter with grabbers.
We will meet at 313 Adams Avenue in Tacony Creek Park, the road will be shut down and parking attendants will help you find a place to park. Please arrive at 9 am so that we can check you in and begin the cleanup.
All cleanup gear (gloves, pickers, sleds, & trash bags) will be provided, but feel free to bring your own gloves if preferred. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes, and don’t forget sun protection and rain gear (just in case! ). Lastly, be sure to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. A water cooler will be available for refills.
Volunteer and join our cleanup crew for a chance to win United by Blue backpacks, bottles, and apparel made out of recycled plastic. We will celebrate our work with free dumplings from the Humpty Dumpty Food Truck and drinks after the cleanup. Environmental non-profits and government agencies from the Philly area will be tabling to show how you can get more involved in their amazing efforts.
