With Germany’s new push to be a country reliant upon renewable energy, designers are trying to find ways to make unsightly power lines and other bulky eyesores chic and clever to the eye. (Link)

Deforestation Nation

In the past year, the rate of deforestation in the Amazon has increased by 27 percent, sending Brazil into crisis mode. Environment minister Izabella Teixeira has created a “crisis cabinet” in order to crackdown on illegal deforestation. (Link)

Solar Solution

As school roofs in Toronto are crumbling, and the schools themselves are quickly running out of money, the Toronto District School Board has come up with a “green” way to solve some of the problems; They will install solar panels on the roofs of 558 schools and will raise funds to benefit the schools by selling the energy to Ontario’s government-owned utility. Lethal Living

Living in a dirty, loud and unkempt urban area may not just be unpleasant, it can also be deadly. People who live in outlying parts of a city that are less walkable and lack access to green space, recreational areas and healthy food are at an increased risk for obesity and diabetes. (Link)
