Discover the Wissahickon: Carpenter’s Woods Walk

Our Discover the Wissahickon hike series is presented by Newrez.
Join Trail Ambassadors Seya Fadullon, Courtney Malley, Margaret Kinnevy, and Mark Tuveson for a hike through Carpenter’s Woods, one of the oldest growth forests in the park. Starting at the Mt. Airy Avenue Trailhead, we’ll take the White Trail north, explore this oft-forgotten section of the park, and loop back around. This will be a fairly easy hike appropriate for all fitness levels.

Parking and Transit: If you’re driving, there’s plenty of street parking nearby on W Mt. Airy Avenue and Mt. Airy Terrace. Reminder to never leave valuables behind in your car! If you’re taking public transit, our location is serviced by the 53 bus, although it’s a 10-15 minute walk over. See map for details.
Bathrooms: None
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain, extreme heat, muddy conditions, or icy conditions. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org.

Discover the Wissahickon is a guided hikes series made up of 14 routes spanning almost every section of the park’s 50+ miles of trails. On these hikes, our knowledgeable Trail Ambassadors will lead participants on an exploratory journey through the Wissahickon.
