    Explore the natural marvels of our 365-acre nature preserve on a guided hike led by an inspiring environmental educator. This free event is open to all ages. Walk-ins are welcome! This hike is about an hour long. Weather conditions can impact trail conditions, which are sometimes narrow or rocky.

    Celebrate the Winter Solstice at the Schuylkill Center during our last event of 2025 with crafts, stories, and hot chocolate. Make winter crafts with Rose Hammerman of Philadelphia Free Range Education – tree cookie ornaments, naturally dyed candles, fire-side snacks, and more! We will also be joined by Chief Barbara “Bluejay” Michalski of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania, who will be sharing Lenape stories of the importance of wintertime by the fire.     Help us to improve the health and biodiversity of our forest while getting to know our vast, 365 acres of protected land! This is a great opportunity for those who are looking to learn more about plant identification and restoration techniques while connecting with nature and other members of your community. Together, we will work to remove invasive plant species and improve our trails. Workday Details No experience necessary to volunteer. Training will be provided by our expert staff during the workday. We recommend wearing long pants, sturdy boots or shoes. We will have a selection of gloves if needed

Trained educators lead students grades K-6 on unique nature-themed explorations that take advantage of our science lab, Discovery Center, and 365 acres of beautiful wooded trails, streams, and ponds. Please bring a packed lunch, water bottle and an extra set of clothes. Wear weather-appropriate clothing that can get dirty. Space is limited to 30 campers. Sign up early to guarantee your spot.
