Highlights of the route will include the Lavender Trail (of course!), the Thomas Mill Red Covered Bridge, and a stretch alongside the Wissahickon Creek. Along the way, we’ll talk about some movers and shakers from the Philly LGBTQ+ community. All humans ages 12+ are welcome to join us (no dogs except service animals, please). Feel free to wear rainbow gear! Distance: 3.5 miles Level: Moderate (some inclines and declines, uneven surfaces) Registration is required for all hikes so

Our hike will start at the Crefeld Street entrance to the Lavender Trail where we will explore the feeder creeks and footbridges in the area before heading down to Forbidden Drive. We will then head up to Houston Meadow to observe the terrain and (hopefully) see some wildlife before we head back over the Covered Bridge and hike up another section of the Lavender Trail. We will hike about 4 to 6 miles over the scenic trails of the east side of the Wissahickon Park. Starting at the Crefeld Street trailhead we will follow the Lavender and White Trails enjoying the great views of the Valley and creek. Distance and pace will be determined by the participants.   • Big Rocks and Big Trees Part 4 with Lisa Myers

    Crefeld Street Trailhead at Lavender Trail This hike will take us into a quieter area of the park where we will loop through the Lavender and Orange Trails and some connector trails in between. We will see big Birches, Oaks and Tulip trees. Our route will take us along one of the more scenic and interesting tributaries into the Wissahickon where we will cross the creek to examine an interesting rock exposure on the other side. Expect some terrain changes and an obvious creek crossing if it is safe to do so. Please leave dogs and children at home. Service
