    Join Feminist Bird Club Philly on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 6:30 - 8:00pm at Awbury Arboretum for a mostly stationary outing. Feel free to bring chairs, blankets, and/or a snacks! We'll be looking for Common Nighthawks migrating at dusk as well as some other fall migrants! We'll set up up the hill from the lower pond (near Washington Lane Regional Rail Station at 6235 Clearview St.; here's a pin to the meet up location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jrV3RHbtEz2dLJPm7). Stop by anytime between 6:30 - 8:00pm and stay for as long or as short as you'd like. We will have extra binoculars available for anyone

Join Food Forest lead volunteer Jeannie Gerth for a guided forage walk through Awbury’s English Landscape in search of wild edibles, ending with a Sassafras (Sassafras albidum) leaf harvest.     Friday, August 14 | 7:30-9:30pm | The Lightning House at The Farm at Awbury  As we move into late summer, crickets, katydids, cicadas and grasshoppers have begun filling the night air with their rhythmic sounds. Join us at dusk on Friday, August 14th to tune into the vibrations and acoustic ecology of our local stridulators. Entomologist Joe Sweeney will introduce us to the anatomy of these ancient musicians, as Pete Angevine, Eugene Lew and Brooke Sietinsons guide us through a series of sonic investigations with instruments such as the clave, and guiro that emulate cricket songs.     This fall, Awbury’s AdventureWoods is the place to be for hands-on outdoor fun! Children ages 8–11 can join Intro to Archery & Wilderness Survival on Thursdays, Sept 25–Oct 30, 2025, from 4–6 PM, where they’ll learn the basics of archery, try their hand at carving, cook over a campfire, and practice core survival skills like foraging, knot-tying, shelter-building, and first aid. For older adventurers ages 11–15, the Intermediate Wilderness Survival program runs Tuesdays, Sept 23–Oct 28, 2025, from 4–6 PM, taking things to the next level with advanced archery drills, tool carving, matchless fire-starting, cooking, and more complex survival challenges.
