Awbury Arboretum

Join Feminist Bird Club Philly on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 6:30 - 8:00pm at Awbury Arboretum for a mostly stationary outing. Feel free to bring chairs, blankets, and/or a snacks! We'll be looking for Common Nighthawks migrating at dusk as well as some other fall migrants! We'll set up up the hill from the lower pond (near Washington Lane Regional Rail Station at 6235 Clearview St.; here's a pin to the meet up location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jrV3RHbtEz2dLJPm7). Stop by anytime between 6:30 - 8:00pm and stay for as long or as short as you'd like. We will have extra binoculars available for anyone

Friday, August 14 | 7:30-9:30pm | The Lightning House at The Farm at Awbury  As we move into late summer, crickets, katydids, cicadas and grasshoppers have begun filling the night air with their rhythmic sounds. Join us at dusk on Friday, August 14th to tune into the vibrations and acoustic ecology of our local stridulators. Entomologist Joe Sweeney will introduce us to the anatomy of these ancient musicians, as Pete Angevine, Eugene Lew and Brooke Sietinsons guide us through a series of sonic investigations with instruments such as the clave, and guiro that emulate cricket songs.
