  • Slow Roll Memorial Bike Ride for Barbara

    Civic Center Blvd and Spruce St.

    The Bicycle Coalition and Families for Safe Streets will work in collaboration with Barbara's friends and family to host a silent, slow roll bike ride from Civic Center Blvd and Spruce St. to the site of Barbara Friedes crash, 18th and Spruce. We will place an Angel bike at the crash site and hold a memorial for her. Please join to honor Barbara's memory.

    A Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia celebration in partnership with Wednesday Night Rides Wednesday, December 11th, 2024 7 – 9 pm. Our annual celebration of cycling in all weather is returning December 11th to tour the sights and lights of South Philly’s decked out streets. Kicking the ride off with a costume contest and commemorating it at the after party, we’re geared up for another Holiday Lights Ride.

    Billy McWilliams had the biggest heart and loved riding his bike, playing video games, playing sports, hanging out with his friends and family, and overall just being outside. He had the biggest smile that lit up any room he walked into. His energy was vibrant and warm, he made everyone around him comfortable and happy, and his laugh was contagious. He is forever loved and missed more than words could ever describe. The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is a global event held every third Sunday of November to honor those who have lost their lives or been impacted by roadway crashes. This year on November 16, communities across the globe, including several dozen in the United States, will gather together to demand actions towards improving roadway safety and to uplift proven strategies, including redesigning dangerous roads, reducing speed limits, and improving vehicle design. We will hear from local elected officials, city staff, community leaders, and families who have lost their loved ones to traffic violence.
