Discover the wild side of Mt. Cuba with a day of outdoor fun in our natural lands. Take to the open skies by flying a kite; touch-a-truck and tractor; navigate a nature obstacle course; and more! Embrace your inner explorer on a guided hike through rolling terrain. A variety of food and beverage selections available for purchase. Free parking for this event is at 1003 Old Wilmington Road, just east of Brackenville Road. This program takes place in person in Mt. Weathering the Winter

Saturday, February 10th from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm Weathering the Winter Winters were harsh in the 18th century, but even in cold and snowy weather there was still plenty of work to do around the farm. Fires had to be built, food preserved and cooked, and animals needed tending. Deborah was an Art Demonstration Teacher and taught in the Philadelphia Public Schools for thirty-five years. She also worked as a Project Manager for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program for several years. Zuchman paints en plein air and from her imagination. Painting with Pokeweed: Section B

Celebrate native plants through a hands-on, ethnobotanical, foraging, and artistic experience. After a hayride through our natural lands, learn about the relationships Indigenous communities have with pokeweed, find out how to mindfully forage and gather pokeweed, make pèkòn (Lenape for red dye) with the berries, and create watercolor paintings with your homemade pèkòn. Painting with Pokeweed is a partnership between Mt. Cuba and Native Roots Farm Foundation. Children must be 8 or older to participate. Closed-toe shoes are recommended. Adopt-a-Tree Tree Planting Event

Join us with your family to adopt and plant trees at Riverbend. Fall is a wonderful time to plant trees just before it turns colder in the winter months. Planting trees at the preserve helps to provide habitat to local wildlife, combat climate change and helps to maintain our local water supply as the trees we plant keep runoff from heading to the Schuylkill River watershed. Holiday Wreath-Making Workshop

Do you have invasive vines growing in your yard? Join Riverbend staff for the first event in our Sustainable Living Series to learn how to remove vines and turn them into something beautiful. We’ll begin the workshop outside with some easy-to-follow instructions on removing invasive vines like English Ivy and five-leaf akebia. Clippers and work gloves will be provided. Next we’ll move inside Riverbend’s barn to turn the vines into a decoration you can enjoy in your own home or gift to a loved one. Every participant will receive a wooden wreath frame and have access to tools and supplies
