    Saturday, February 10th from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm Weathering the Winter Winters were harsh in the 18th century, but even in cold and snowy weather there was still plenty of work to do around the farm. Fires had to be built, food preserved and cooked, and animals needed tending. Visit the Farmstead on February 10th to watch our living historians demonstrate the types of farm chores a family like the Wentzes would have had to do this time of year. The Party & Auction is the organization’s major fundraising event, raising money and awareness for the life-changing programs and services they provide for thousands of Philadelphians experiencing homelessness. The event features iconic food from Reading Terminal Market vendors, silent auction, and 50/50 raffle. All proceeds allow Bethesda Project to continue their work and achieve their mission

  • Adopt-a-Tree Tree Planting Event

    Join us with your family to adopt and plant trees at Riverbend. Fall is a wonderful time to plant trees just before it turns colder in the winter months. Planting trees at the preserve helps to provide habitat to local wildlife, combat climate change and helps to maintain our local water supply as the trees we plant keep runoff from heading to the Schuylkill River watershed.     Do you have invasive vines growing in your yard? Join Riverbend staff for the first event in our Sustainable Living Series to learn how to remove vines and turn them into something beautiful. We’ll begin the workshop outside with some easy-to-follow instructions on removing invasive vines like English Ivy and five-leaf akebia. Clippers and work gloves will be provided. Next we’ll move inside Riverbend’s barn to turn the vines into a decoration you can enjoy in your own home or gift to a loved one.     Celebrate Trails Day in Cobbs Creek will celebrate its sixth year running on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 10am-2pm at the playground/park area at Thomas Ave & Cobbs Creek Parkway just north of Whitby Ave. Brought to you by Clean Air Council and Fairmount Park Conservancy this free event will kick off beginning at 10:00am with over a dozen exhibitors offering family friendly games, resources, information, education and activities for residents to connect with. The event will conclude with a ribbon cutting for a new playspace that will offer playful learning and early literacy opportunities for children in Cobbs Creek.
