We think of fungi as tasty (or dangerous) to eat and important decomposers, but they are remarkable in and of themselves and in their relationships with trees. We will not be harvesting wild mushrooms, but we will be searching for them, learning about their roles in the garden, and how we use their relative, yeast, in baking.
With their stunning yellow flowers, goldenrods are one of the hallmark plants of autumn. But they do more than delight the eye. From bees and wasps to caterpillars and butterflies, goldenrods support hundreds of insects. This unique class opportunity combines the insect expertise of Sam Nestory and plant expertise from the manager of horticultural research at Mt.
