Volunteer with Haverford College Arboretum!Every other Tuesday during the active volunteer season (April - October) the Arboretum hosts volunteer workdays open to the community. Each session is led by a staff member and focuses on gardening in a different area of campus. Activities will vary each week and can include but are not limited to planting, weeding, mulching, clearing invasives, and watering. The Weekend Warm-up Hike returns to Tyler’s hiking trails! Start your Friday off right with a brisk, one-hour hike through Tyler’s gardens and natural areas beyond the deer exclusion fence. This hike is intended as a moderate cardio workout, and we typically cover 2 1/2 to 3 miles in an hour. However, we reserve the right to pause and enjoy whatever surprises nature offers. Be prepared for a mix of asphalt, gravel and natural surfaces. Hikes are not suitable for those with limited mobility. We recommend bringing along a reusable water bottle. Join us for a loop walk that includes five major trails in the southern section of the Wissahickon. We’ll start and finish at the 100 Steps and enjoy the variety of vistas from both sides of the creek and Lincoln Drive. Along the way, we’ll observe natural and historic interest points, including the Hermit Cave and a former quarry. We will be working to plant a number of trees and shrubs to help reestablish canopy cover along the creek and revitalize the existing riparian buffer on site. Please fill out the form below.
