    Now + Then Marketplace returns to The Block at Sono St. Patty's Day weekend with over 80 local vendors inside and out. The vacant storefront next to Target & Yards on 5th Street will once again be activated by N+T Marketplace a year later, inantely proving their initiative to occupy empty storefronts in the 'Meantime'.     Help steward our newest, soon-to-be permanently preserved natural land, the Boy Scout Tract. Meet us in the parking lot of Higher Ground Church at 7860 Eva Street to assist us in removing invasive plant species, clearing aggressive vines off native trees, and removing unwanted material. All participants are welcome to stay for a happy hour after we finish our work. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes and clothes that you are comfortable getting dirty.     Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education 8480 Hagy's Mill Road, Philadelphia, PA, United States

    The Toad Detour works to protect the local toad population as they migrate to and from their breeding grounds each spring. When the toads emerge from brumation (the reptile version of hibernation) in the early spring, hundreds of them cross Port Royal, Hagy’s Mill and other nearby roads to mate in the Roxborough Reservoir or the Schuylkill Center’s ponds. The Detour’s volunteers erect barricades and help divert traffic during busy toad crossing evenings, saving hundreds of toads from being hit by cars.     There are more than 300 neighborhood parks across the City of Philadelphia, and this spring over 90 of them will be hosting clean-up service days Saturday, May 13 through Sunday, May 21, for Love Your Park Week. Love Your Park is a program of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy, in partnership with the Park Friends Network, made up of volunteer groups who steward their neighborhood parks.     Meeting at Forbidden Drive & Bells Mill Road This Saturday, we’re setting our sights on Bells Mill Road and it’s parallel tributary. Bells Mill is the only road that runs through the park and crosses Forbidden Drive. Due to the high volume of traffic on this road, it’s often littered with trash. Come help us make a difference in this highly used section of the park. We have a full road closure planned for this event. No experience is needed. Local organization Victoria Urban Outreach Tutoring Service (VUOTS) will host a civic engagement and legislative conversation with Every Voice, Every Vote, a collaborative project managed by The Lenfest Institute for Journalism.
