We’re teaming up with the City of Philadelphia, Office of Clean and Green, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Philadelphia Water Department, United by Blue, and multiple agencies, to remove illegally dumped tires and clear debris from Tacony Creek Park and the surrounding streets. This cleanup is a great way to make a real impact! Volunteers comfortable lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) are especially needed to help remove tires. Prefer lighter work?     The Friends of Mount Moriah Cemetery invites neighbors and history lovers to join a cleanup day at Mausoleum Hill on the Yeadon side of the cemetery. Volunteers will work to restore Mausoleum Hill, home to some of the cemetery’s most notable structures and the final resting places of people whose lives are woven into the fabric of Philadelphia history.     Our inaugural Creek Clean Up was held in 1970 to coincide with the very first Earth Day! Join us in celebrating both events by helping clean the Wissahickon Creek, its tributaries, and local trails on Saturday, April 25th. This is the perfect volunteer event to get outside and show your support for a cleaner watershed. All volunteers choose a pre-assigned section of the Wissahickon Creek, its tributaries, or a section of trail.     Stewardship Saturdays are open events that welcomes all visitors to take part in a hands on experience of creating better habitats for wildlife on the Refuge. Folks will meet at the Visitor's Center where they will meet and then work with experienced "Weed Warriors" who will teach them about removing invasive plants and or planting native plants to improve native plant diversity and/or food sources for wildlife.
