    For Adults 18+ and Youth ages 15-17 We will be hiking out with guide David Eberly to see owls in the Pinetum, as well as some areas outside the deer exclusion fence. We’ll be on the lookout for Great Horned, Screech, and Barred Owls. Less likely but always possible are Saw-whet and Long-eared owls. If the sky cooperates, we will be treated to a nearly full moon when we start the walk.   • Richard’s Rambles: East Woods & Marsh Ramble

    FOR ADULTS (18+) AND YOUTH AGES 15+ This Ramble will explore the trails and the large variety of trees of the secluded and little-visited East Woods of Tyler Arboretum.     FOR ADULTS AND TEENS AGES 15-17 Over three centuries ago, Jacob Minshall built the homestead “Round Top” after relocating to Middletown with his family. Join us as we make our way through Ridley Creek State Park to visit what remains of the original homestead. We will learn about the site’s history and hear an account of what life was like for the last residents of Round Top.     FOR ALL AGES Dismal Run has been designated the cleanest stream in Delco, and it flows right through Tyler Arboretum! Join Tyler’s Executive Director, Mike Skuja, as we explore a tributary of Dismal Run along the Blue Trail. Mike will discuss the significance of riparian buffers and stormwater management solutions. We will also observe the impact of the emerald ash borer and learn about forest management practices implemented in response to the ash tree crisis, as well as upcoming restoration initiatives.     The Weekend Warm-up Hike returns to Tyler’s hiking trails! Start your Friday off right with a brisk, one-hour hike through Tyler’s gardens and natural areas beyond the deer exclusion fence. This hike is intended as a moderate cardio workout, and we typically cover 2 1/2 to 3 miles in an hour. However, we reserve the right to pause and enjoy whatever surprises nature offers. Be prepared for a mix of asphalt, gravel and natural surfaces. Hikes are not suitable for those with limited mobility. We recommend bringing along a reusable water bottle.
