Learn the basics of the infamously frustrating and very important tool—the weed wacker/string trimmer! Participants will learn how to restring, make gas mix, a step-by-step start, problem-solving/troubleshooting, hands-on training, and best practices in safety.
Please note: to avoid the peak heat index, Saturday Free Boating will take place from 3-7pm July through August. Join us for free kayaking and rowboating on the Tidal Schuylkill River! No pre-registration or experience is necessary. Suitable for all ages and skill levels. Equipment, life jackets, and basic instruction for kayaking and row boating provided–first come, first served. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. The program may be canceled in the event of inclement weather or unsafe river conditions.
Come purchase fresh, chemical-free inspirited locally grown produce straight from Sankofa Community Farm every Thursday at our 54th & Lindbergh Boulevard entrance, now through mid-November! EBT, cash, WIC Farmer’s Market vouchers, and Senior vouchers are all accepted methods of payment (standard retail WIC vouchers are not accepted). You can also catch the Sankofa Farm Stand on First & Third Saturdays, 10am–1pm at the Clark Park Farmer’s Market (4300 Baltimore Ave) Second Saturdays, 11am–3pm at the Black Farmer’s Market at Freedom Garden (5200 Pine Street)
