SWWAG Workshop: Intro to Summer Planting (Rescheduled from 5/13)

Due to inclement weather forecasts, this event has been rescheduled from its original date on 5/13. Time to get planting! Come on down to Sankofa Community Farm and learn the basics of planting your summer garden. We will also cover summertime maintenance, including best practices in natural agriculture and pest management. Led by the Sankofa Farm team (beginner-intermediate level workshop).

We Walk PHL Thursday Walking Group [2025]

Join We Walk PHL at Bartram’s Garden! We Walk PHL is a program in partnership between Fairmount Park Conservancy, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation that offers free weekly walking groups at various public parks throughout the city. Venus Fly Trap Opening Performance and Reception

BlackStar presents a site-specific, newly commissioned performance series and installation at Bartram’s Garden, from artist Joiri Minaya. Curated by writer and editor Dessane Lopez Cassell, the series will reflect on the intertwined legacies of freedom, extraction, and ecology in North America’s oldest surviving botanical garden. Much like a Venus flytrap, the plant this project is named for, Joiri Minaya’s practice often employs beauty before its bite, utilizing sensuality, lush florals and hues to invite deeper reflection on thornier aspects of history and the impacts of colonialism.
