Spring Fest

Join us in the Garden for our free annual celebration of spring! Spring Fest this year will focus on the many stories held in and sustained by our connection to the land. Highlights of the day will include: A presentation by Dr. William Woys Weaver about his new translation of Christopher Sauer’s Herbal Cures, which was written in Philadelphia circa 1762-1778. Dr. Weaver is an internationally known food ethnographer, author, and the Director and founder of Roughwood Seeds. It’s that exciting time of the year again when our ponds fill to the brim with squirming tadpoles! Join Riverbend's Educators for this fascinating annual rite of spring that happens right here at Riverbend. Learn about the lifecycle of the amphibians that live at the Preserve and see the tadpoles in action. This fun event is open to individuals and to families with children of all ages. Guests will explore the preserve and visit activity stations to learn all about frogs. Depending on the weather and other natural factors, we may see a lot of tadpoles or none at all,

Riverbend Rangers Summer Camp (Ages 4-6)

Riverbend is offering nature camp for 4, 5, and 6-year-olds at The Wetherill School in Gladwyne, located just 10 minutes from Riverbend’s main campus. Each week has a different exciting theme, some of which are new or reinvented for this 2025 summer! This preschool location includes a forest hiking trail, log circle for songs and stories, and outdoor classroom, plus indoor amenities sized just right for young children who have not yet started Kindergarten. Camp will be run by caring and kind Riverbend camp counselors.
