  • SWWAG Workshop – Harvesting the Healing Power: An Afro-Herbalism Workshop on Elderberries

    Please note: this workshop takes place at Mill Creek Farm (4901 Brown St. , Philadelphia, PA 19139). Join us for a FREE immersive and educational workshop on harvesting and processing elderberries! You will be taken through a step-by-step process of processing elderberries, showcasing the creation of an elderberry oxymel. Led by Afro-Indigenous Clinical and Community Herbalist Yam Vallis, in partnership with the Philadelphia Orchard Project and Mill Creek Urban Farm. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with: a deeper understanding of Afro-Diasporic Herbalism practices practical skills in harvesting and processing elderberries and a delicious elderberry preparation to enjoy at home.

    Come purchase fresh, chemical-free inspirited local produce straight from Sankofa Community Farm every first and third Saturday at the Clark Park Farmers’ Market, now through mid-November! EBT, cash, WIC Farmer’s Market vouchers, and Senior vouchers are all accepted methods of payment (standard retail WIC vouchers are not accepted). You can also shop at the Farm Stand… at Get Fresh Daily’s Black Farmer’s Market at Freedom Greens and Garden (5200 Pine Street), every 2nd and 4th Saturday, 11am–2pm, starting May 30 in front of the Bartram’s Garden Welcome Center every Thursday, 2:30–4:30pm, starting June 17
