Experience the quiet thrill of our forests’ most mysterious resident! Owls are one of the most fascinating creatures – these night time hunters are rarely seen, although traces of their existence can be found with a watchful eye. Learn about the physical and behavioral characteristics that make these birds so exceptional. After that, we’ll grab our flashlights and take a hike, searching and listening for these elusive birds. Beyond Wakanda

Guests of all ages can explore stories of iconic Black superheroes and create their own comics and superheroes during the day’s workshops and hear from artists and authors who will speak on highlighted themes in comics and sci-fi. Young visitors are encouraged to come dressed in Black Superhero and Wakanda-inspired costumes, which makes for a fantastic visual!

Forest Stargazing

Experience the glowing wonders of our forest through a multi-sensory nighttime event. Director of Environmental Art and certified yoga teacher Kristina Murray will offer a grounding meditation in opening the senses. Artist and stargazer Ana Vizcarra Rankin will then lead the group on a naked-eye stargazing hike, inspired by her practice of studying star maps and telescope imaging. Educator and amateur mycologist Matt Schink will aid us along the way in spotting and understanding the beauty of bioluminescent fungi.

TTF Spring BioBlitz 2023

Join TTF Watershed Partnership for a week-long BioBlitz within the TTF Watershed in Philadelphia and Montgomery County! Starting on Saturday, April 22, volunteers can use the free iNaturalist smartphone app to document wildlife observations across the TTF Watershed and add them to our growing TTF project page: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/tookany-tacony-frankford-watershed-wildlife Participate from anywhere in the watershed on your own using the app. The BioBlitz will end on Monday, May 1 when we’ll see how many species we were all able to spot and identify.
