Cliveden’s next Second Saturday event on July 8th, from 9am to 4pm, and the theme is Citizenship! Local organization Victoria Urban Outreach Tutoring Service (VUOTS) will host a civic engagement and legislative conversation with Every Voice, Every Vote, a collaborative project managed by The Lenfest Institute for Journalism. From 9am to 12pm, community members are welcome to volunteer in the gardens and assist the Preservation Director in maintaining the greenspace. Through a series of hand- and machine-sewn artworks, artist Julie “Juicebox” Woodard transforms post-consumer waste into depictions of the Delaware River and native plants found along the waterfront. Philadelphia Distilling will be holding ‘United We Create’ on Sunday, October 15th from 1PM to 7PM. United We Create is a yearly event at Philadelphia Distilling showcasing local artisans, both artists we work with and we admire. Some of the makers will be demonstrating their skills, such as glass blowing by Jim Loewer and screen printing by Paul Carpenter. While others will be giving out samples of their products, such as Pizza Freak Co. Products will also be available to purchase directly from the vendors. Celebrate Easter like a Swede at the American Swedish Historical Museum’s Easter Family Day! Join us on Sunday, March 24th, from 2-4 pm to experience Swedish Easter traditions. In Sweden, Easter kicks off with a trick-or-treat-like candy hunt on Maundy Thursday. Children dress up as Easter witches with long skirts, headscarves, painted red cheeks, and freckles and go from house to house, wishing people Happy Easter.
